The 2018 Willits Local Scholarship Program is a great opportunity to earn multiple scholarships towards vocational/trade school, community college, or 4-year college. Last year, the community of Willits gave the graduating Class of 2017 a grand total of $103,600. Award amounts vary year to year but many organizations within our community want to help our seniors on their path to success.
What To Do:
Step 1 = Read through the Directions and Deadlines
Step 2 = Review the Local Scholarship List. Students should only apply for scholarships where they meet the requirements.
Step 3 = Fill out the specific scholarship application for the scholarship you are applying for. Most scholarships accept the 2018 Willits Common Scholarship Application. This is important because you only need to fill this application out once and then you can apply for multiple scholarships! Please download it, it is a fill-able PDF. Note: you cannot save it! There are a few scholarships that have their own application. Certain scholarships require their own application. Go to the WHS Scholarship page to download and fill them out: http://whs.willitsunified.com/career-center/scholarship
Step 4 = Come to one of the local scholarship application workshops to get feedback on your application. Workshops will be from 3:00-4:00 in the Willits High School Library on 3/19, 3/21, 3/22 & 3/23
Step 5 = Come to Xerox night on Monday 3/26 and Tuesday 3/27 from 3:00-5:00 at the WHS main hall copy machine. Xerox night is where you can come to make as many copies of your completed scholarship applications as you need. All you need to do after that is write in the name of each scholarship you will be applying for. If you cannot make it to either Xerox Night, please make an appointment with Nicole Burke before3/28/18.
Step 6 = Submit your application(s) to Nicole Burke by 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday 3/28. No late applications will be accepted.
Step 7 = Plan to participate in the Local Scholarship Interview Night(s) on Wednesday, April 25th at 5:00 p.m. and possibly Thursday, April 26th. The second night depends on how many seniors apply for scholarships.
