Directions & Deadlines

The Willits Local Scholarship Program is up and running! What is it you ask? Only a great opportunity to earn multiple scholarships towards vocational/trade school, community college, or 4-year college. That's right! I said MULTIPLE scholarships! Last year the local Willits Community and Organizations gave the graduating Class of 2018 a grand total of $95,850. Award amounts vary year to year but they want to help all of you on your path to success. How does it work you ask? Simple!

Step 1 = Read through the Directions and Deadlines

Step 2 = Review the Local Scholarship List. Students should only apply for scholarships where they meet the requirements.

Step 3 = Fill out the specific scholarship application for the scholarship you are applying for.

Most scholarships accept the 2019 Willits Common Scholarship Application. This is important because you only need to fill this application out once and then you can apply for multiple scholarships! Please download it, it is a fillable PDF. Note: you cannot save it!

Certain scholarships require their own application(s):

Step 4 = Come to one of the local scholarship application workshops to get feedback on your application(s). Workshops will be from 3:00-4:00 in the Willits High School Library on 3/11, 3/13, 3/14 & 3/15 (if there is school on 3/15)

Step 5 = Come to Xerox night on Monday 3/25 from 3:00-5:00 at the WHS main hall copy machine. Xerox night is where you can come to make as many copies of your completed scholarship applications as you need. All you need to do after that is write in the name of each scholarship you will be applying for. If you cannot make it to Xerox Night, please make an appointment with Lucy Kyne before 3/27/19.

Step 6 = Submit your application(s) to Lucy Kyne by 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday 3/27. No late applications will be accepted.

Step 7 = Plan to participate in the Local Scholarship Interview Night(s) on Wednesday, April 17th at 5:00 p.m. and possibly Thursday, April 18th. The second night depends on how many seniors apply for scholarships.

Good luck!
