Willits Charter School was founded in 1999 to provide an educational option for students in grades 6 through 12. WCS is an intentionally small, independent charter school that believes promoting family involvement is crucial to the success of all students. Class sizes are kept below twenty students to foster better student/teacher connections.

WCS has consistently placed at or near the top in Mendocino County for middle and high schools as ranked by the API for STAR test results. While we emphasize rigorous academics, we also believe a well-rounded education includes the arts, physical exercise, and technology. The WCS curriculum is aligned to the California State Standards and we administer the annual standardized tests (STAR, California Subject Tests and the California High School Exit Exam).

Like all charter schools, we are open to all who wish to attend. We do not charge tuition, teach religious doctrine, or discriminate in admissions policies. We work to find the right combination of classes for each student, maximizing their strengths and finding support to conquer their weaknesses.
